In June, we had our first session of the new 6-hour PD training Learning with Mi'kma'ki. Participants spent the morning indoors for a presentation and in the afternoon they braved the spring rain for a visit to Point Pleasant Park for outdoor activities.
Interested in attending a session yourself? The full schedule is available on the EYPDC website with future sessions being added. Check back regularly for summer and fall sessions.
You may remember a few months ago we teased that filming was happening in the EYCDC. We are happy to announce that this was for the upcoming free seminar Introduction to Gaelic Culture.
This seminar, hosted by Eamag Dhòmhnullach (or Emily MacDonald from Cape Breton), will be the starting point of your education on one of Nova Scotia's historic cultures. The seminar will also include an overview of the culturally relevant play materials in the Gaelic Cultural Collection that can be borrowed and shared with children in your classroom.
While we're busy at work with the finishing touches, we wanted to give you a sneak peek of what you can expect from the seminar.
Check out an overview of Musical Tradition Kit for a taste of what's to come:
To see our full Gaelic Cultural Collection, visit our EYCDC Library Catalogue and enter "Gaelic" as a search word to see all Gaelic materials.
This collection and the seminar was made possible by the support of Gaelic Affairs and our contributors.
EYCDC Manager Olha Khaperska attended the Association of Early Childhood Educators Nova Scotia 2024 Symposium in June. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn more about what the EYCDC has to offer and entered our newsletter giveaway!
Have any questions post-symposium? Feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] or [email protected].
Have you gained skills and experience in the early childhood education and ready to step into the facilitator's role to inspire and encourage adults who work with children? If you have skills, success stories, and enjoy facilitating discussions and presenting to adult learners, let us know! Please fill out the form and tell us more about yourself. We are currently looking for facilitators who are willing to work directly with centres and deliver workshops on the topics of interest. Thank you to everyone who was reached out so far!
