Hands-on FREE workshops start in September!

Over the next few months, we will be offering a series of free hands-on workshops. Each workshop is offered in-person at the NSCECE campus (6208 Quinpool Road) for interactive learning and reflection with peers.

First up in the series is Food Discovery with Jennifer Ferguson on September 27th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. This session will include food demonstrations and materials to take back to centres.

To register or learn more about our upcoming in-person PD offerings, call us at (902) 423-7114 ext. 233.

LIBRARY UPDATES

Summer Updates

We’ve been busy this summer expanding the Lending Library with new books, toys, and cultural resources. We’ll have exciting news about new and improved collections soon so stay tuned for future updates!

In addition to our PD memberships, we have access memberships specifically for our Lending Library. These memberships are annual and provide full access to our books, toys, educator kits, and loose parts collection. For more information or to register, visit our library registration page.

To see our entire collection or reserve a resource for pick-up, check our online library catalogue.

Loose Parts Library

We've added two new books to our Loose Parts Library. These titles cover ideas and inspiration for those both new and experienced using Loose Parts in their learning environments.

Loose Parts for Children with Diverse Abilities

By Miriam Beloglovsky

Call Number: 371.9 BEL

Loose Parts for Children with Diverse Abilities addresses the importance of play while providing appropriate accommodation to support young children with diverse abilities.

With hundreds of illustrative full-color photographs and infused with real stories of children with diverse abilities engaged in loose parts play, the book also includes narrative comments from families and educators.

StoryMakers on Deck: StoryMaking Activities with Loose Parts

By Michelle Kay Compton & Robin Chappele Thompson

Call Number: 372.4 COM

The StoryMakers on Deck cards inspire educators and children to use simple materials to make stories and projects. The cards are divided into six categories of story elements: generating story ideas, crafting a lead, imagining a character, making a setting, elaborating the story, and closing the story.
